New props are my drug of choice! :)

Getting new stuff is fun.  I think most people would agree.  And getting new props and backgrounds for my work is no different!  I LOVE getting new items to use, especially for my newborn portrait work.  I can hardly go shopping anywhere without wondering if I could fit a baby into something!!  lol Recently, I also purchased my first new background in a long time.  It's a beautiful light gray with a soft white floral type pattern on it.  It's has a very fresh, clean look and I think it's perfect for baby girls.  I like it so much, I almost wish I could buy it in a wallpaper and put it in a room in my house!  :)  And also not surprising to anyone with a toddler, when I am playing with new things, my daughter always tries her best to get involved.  As you can see, she needed to see if she could fit in the "baby box."  She makes me laugh!

Baby Ellis | {Brownsburg & Indianapolis Newborn Photographer}

Today I had the pleasure of meeting this sweet little gal and her two lovely parents, who were sent to me by a good friend of mine.  This little beauty's name is Ellis and today marks just 7 days since she took her first breath.  Talk about a sweetie pie!  Ellis was actually as sweet as she looks!  She was so calm and quiet for her whole newborn portrait session.  She even spent a long time trying her best to keep her pretty eyes open, and even then she still didn't get fussy.  I could definitely tell that she is a girl that likes lots of hands on attention, as she seemed to sleep most soundly for me while I was holding her head in my hand.  And as much as I would have been happy to hold her little head the whole time, that doesn't allow for very easy picture taking!!  And I'm sure mommy and daddy would prefer photos without my hands in them!  Haha!!  She is going to be a little snuggler, that's for sure!  Very sweet!

(I'm so glad I bought this gray blanket at IKEA!  It seems to be popular in my sessions and I love it!)

I always think it's so fun to see the before and after images, so I figured I'd share this one!  You can see how important it is to try and get it right in camera.  Then you don't have much work to do, as with this image.  A quick change to the tint, removed mom's hand, and 'Voila!'...the finished image!

Baby Harper Ann | {Brownsburg & Indianapolis Newborn Photographer}

I really love photographing newborns.  They might just be my favorite subject, especially after having become a mother myself a few years ago.  And one of my favorite things about newborn sessions, aside from getting to hold the babies, is getting to hear the new parents talking about their baby.  It's really special to get to hear the excitement and admiration new parents have for their sweet, brand new baby.  And to see them with their eyes glued to this new little person, full of such love and affection.  It's just something I enjoy seeing.  Little miss Harper's parents definitely couldn't hide their head-over-heels love for this little gal, even if they wanted to!  It's very clear that this new mommy and daddy are madly in love.  And just look at this little beauty!  :)

Snow Day!!

Well, the new year has definitely started out with a bang!  A big, freezing cold, fluffy white bang!!  When the snow started falling, it was coming down fast and we quickly had 8-10" of the white stuff to play with.  And so, naturally, outside we went!!  We wanted to enjoy it before it got too cold to be outdoors.  So we spent a couple hours outside having really fun family time in the snow.  We built a snowman first, then a snow fort underneath the swing set.  And then we had a quick snowball fight.  Lastly, it was time to watch Olivia sledding down our driveway.  All in all, it was a snow day well spent!!  I even managed to get a couple of photos before my camera got too wet with snow.  Happy Snow Day everyone!!  :)
